Chick-fil-A
Cow Appreciation Day
Type of Campaign:
User-Generated Facebook Photo Contest
Challenge
Chick-fil-A’s Eat Mor Chikin campaign encourages people to eat chicken instead of burgers. Cow Appreciation day is an integral part of the campaign where customers express their bovine love by dressing up as a cow for a free combo meal. In 2009, the restaurant upped the ante with the Cow Appreciation Day Photo Contest, which offered free chicken for a year to the best dressed cow. Stuzo was tasked with building and launching the Facebook application.
Solution
The photo contest enabled users to submit photos of themselves or a group wearing their best cow outfit. The photo gallery featured voting, Facebook Shares, and a search field. Back-end administrative controls allowed Chick-fil-A to manage every submission before publishing them to Facebook.
Results
900 unique entrants donned black-and-white costumes to show their appreciation. 1,000 photos were submitted collecting more than 100,000 votes. Holy cow!
