About the Role

WHO WE ARE:

PAR Retail (formerly Stuzo) helps Everyday Spend Retailers Know and Activate™ more customers and data in real-time, leading to more visits, more gallons, and bigger baskets. Our Open Commerce® product suite consists of: Activate for Intelligent 1:1 Loyalty, Transact for Contactless Commerce, and Experience for Cross-Channel Customer Experiences.

THE CANDIDATE HAS:

  • Working as a backend engineer for at least 5 years;
  • Experience with Node.js for at least 3 years;
  • Experience leading the team for at least 1 year;
  • Experience with TypeScript and Nest.js for at least 1 year;
  • Experience working with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL or MySQL) for at least 3 years;
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases Redis for at least 1 year;
  • Experience working with message brokers (preferably RabbitMQ);
  • Experience with container technologies (Docker);
  • Experience working with any cloud provider.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Knowledge and experience with NoSQL databases;
  • Knowledge of AWS;
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies (React);
  • Knowledge of AWS ECS or AWS EKS;
  • Working with payment / billing providers (i.e. Stripe, Paypal, Braintree).

RESPONSABILITIES FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Lead the development group in a discipline:
    – Hold regular discipline evolution meetings with all the engineers of the discipline;
    – Conduct workshops, present new frameworks, libraries, etc.
  • Set up discipline standards:
    – Develop and document standards and best practices;
    – Lead by example the discipline standards;
    – Control that standards are respected on all projects;
    – Identify reusable components between products.
  • Manage technical debt:
    – Organise process of registering, grooming, planning of technical debt;
    – Validate technical debt resolution;
    – Report on technical debt.
  • Manage the discipline evolution process.
  • Guide technical decisions within projects:
    – Participate in preparation of the technical architecture of new big/important functionality;
    – Project technical assessment.
  • Drive and motivate the team and its members:
    – Provide technical mentorship;
    – Conduct technical One-to-Ones;
    – Consult on technical goals and check their execution;
    – Participate in assessments;
    – Provide feedback on team members to management.
